About this part

This is a thin-walled casting with cored internal passages, several bearing bosses and flanged faces that all have to stay true to one another. Thin walls and cores are where sand casting is won or lost: the mould has to hold its shape while the metal runs, or the walls come out uneven and the housing will not hold pressure. We pour it in LM-6, an aluminium-silicon alloy that flows well and stays pressure-tight, and we machine it on the same site.

How we make it

  • Pattern and core boxes made in our own pattern shop
  • Sand cast in LM-6 aluminium with cores for the internal passages
  • Bearing bores and seal seats machined to size
  • Threaded port cut, mounting holes drilled and tapped
  • Dimensional and visual soundness checks before dispatch

Can you make this housing for another tractor model?

Yes. Send a sample or a drawing of the housing you need and we will make the pattern for it.

Do you supply it machined or as-cast?

Either. Most customers take it machined, since the bores and the threaded port are cut here.
