About this part
Gray iron is the right material for a drum because it takes heat away from the lining, damps the squeal and wears evenly instead of scoring. We turn the outer diameter and the rim, then bore the hub and cut its keyway so the drum locks onto the shaft. The inside is finished in red primer.
How we make it
- Sand cast in gray iron
- Outer diameter and rim turned
- Hub bored and key-slotted
- Dimensional and visual checks; laboratory testing arranged outside when a drawing calls for it
Can you cast drums to my dimensions?
Yes. Send the drawing or an old drum and we will make the pattern to suit.
Do you re-machine worn drums?
Tell us the condition of the drum and we will say whether skimming is worth doing or a new casting is the better buy.
